Napkin Pillows

This is an easy pillow that takes no time to make. This pillow is made with a pair of napkins or handkerchief where the finished edges are visible. The finished edges are the most important part of the design.

They make the perfect accent pillows for beds or your sofa. The fun thing about this pillow is that you can mix and match the fabric. You can find various types of napkins or handkerchiefs at discount prices at your local thrift or discount stores.

Fabrics and supplies needed:2 Cloth napkins the same size or 2 vintage hankies the same (or close to the same) sizePillow form or polyester fiberThreadDress makers PinsTip: You can create a pillow form using muslin and polyester fiber ( the pillow form is created the same way as you will create a basic pillow)

Stitch it up:

  1. Pin both napkins/hankies with wrong sides together, leaving a 4” opening at the top.
  2. Topstitch the napkins or hankies together close to the edge, leaving a 4” opening.
  3. Stuff the pillow through the openings.
  4. Stitch the remaining 4” to close.

Tips and Techniques:

  • Sew a button at the center of each pillow
  • Trim with fringe or other items
  • Bead over a design.
  • Combine any other variations.
