Do you have old clothes in you closet that you wish to upgrade? Here, I am giving you few great tips on how you can alter your garments into stylish fashions. You will also be able to shop at your local discount or thrift stores and transform outdated clothes to the latest fashion trends.

Shirt Redo:

Deconstruct a classic long sleeve oversized button-down shirt into a hot mini dress. Choose a shirt that reaches your mid-thigh.

1. Remove the sleeves.

2. Take the sides seams into where it fits closely around the hips.

3. Cut off the upper portion of the sleeves for a 3 quarter length.

4. Rotate and reattach the cut off sleeve bringing the details forward.

5. Create inverted pleats on the sides of the shirt.

6. Finish with a scarf or belt. ( raped around the waist)

Basic Tee to Decorative Flare:

  • Clip the neckband and turn under.
  • Stitch on ruffles, sequined trim.
  • Add beads, buttons, and/or charms.

Simple Fabric Jacket Redo:

Add custom to touch to a simple jacket.

  • Tie dye jacket.
  • Replace buttons
  • Cover the collar and pocket flaps with lace.
  • Pleat the shoulders.
  • Pin-tuck the back waist and sleeve cuffs.
  • Add adjustable tabs to the waist for shaping.

Vintage Dress to Fabulous Shirt: 1. Cut off the skirt of the dress and slip.2. Insert ¾” elastic through new hem line.3. Make a scarf with left over fabric. Dated Miniskirt to Today’s Strapless Dress:

1. Hike up the skirt under arms.

2. Add darts below the bust for a fitted, strapless bodice.

3. Attach a cotton or silk skirt to the bodice. ( see “Sew What Skirts” to create your own)
