Sewing Stuff Fabric Ornaments: Great for Christmas Decorating

Sewing fabric ornaments is a quick inexpensive way to decorate your Christmas tree, tie onto packages or give as gifts. It is a great way to get your family members involved and best of all its fun for the kids. This is a fabulous holiday project to get the entire family involved!

Materials Needed:

Fabric

Holiday templates or cookie cutters

Thread

Polyester fiberfill for stuffing

Cord for hanging ornaments

Trim

Craft Paper or pattern paper

Dressmaker pins

Make the Pattern:

  1. Trace the cookie cutter on the paper.
  2. Cut out the shapes. (this will be your pattern)

Tip: You can cut out pictures out of coloring books and use them as your patterns.

Create:

  1. Fold fabric in half right sides together.
  2. Pin pattern to fabric.
  3. Trace around pattern with felt tip pin. (This will be your stitchline).
  4. Cut out pattern ¼” outside of stitch line

Sew it Up:

  1. With fabric pin together following the stitch line sew the two fabrics together leaving a 1 1/2” opening.
  2. Turn ornaments inside out. Stuff ornaments with fiber fill.
  3. Slipstitch opening together.
