Hoboken’s Fashion Lab: Day camp sewing classes for kids
Offering kids a place to mend their sewing skills and develop their fashion senses, Hoboken’s Fashion Lab, 266 Seventh Street in Hoboken NJ, will begin its first week of day camp classes this Monday, June 21. Classes will teach basic sewing and fashion design to kids and teens ages 10-18.
Open at its current location on the corner of Willow Avenue and Seventh Street, since 2006, M. Avery Designs Boutique and Studio sells custom accessories, and hosts private crafting events, in addition to its Fashion Lab after-school and summer sewing classes, according to its Web site, www.maverydesgins.com.
Owner and instructor Megan Avery, a Hoboken resident, started the company in 1998 out of her Hoboken railroad apatrment, according to the site. Her ‘Make your own handbag workshop’ was also featured on NBC’s Today Show in 2008, it stated.
The two-hour summer camp classes run in week-long blocks, with each week teaching a different skill set, according to the site. Rates start at $138 for the first week, with a discount applied to each number of weeks students are signed up for. For more information, visit maverydesigns.com
